
Bioware, owned by EA, has confirmed that their servers have been hacked.
The attack happened on Thursday, with hackers using a backdoor found within the game Neverwinter Nighs. The backdoor gave the group access to EA's servers, which included passwords and addresses. Bioware's servers were affected.
EA's release on the information details that the hack occured on Bioware's servers, but both EA Games and Bioware accounts are vulnerable.
Bioware released the following statement regarding the hack:
We take the security of your information very seriously and regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. If your username, email address and/or password on your EA account are similar to those you use on other sites, we recommend changing the password at those sites as well. We advise all of our fans to always be aware of any suspicious emails or account activity and report any suspicious emails and account activity to Customer Support at 1-877-357-6007
Both EA and Bioware are urging users with accounts for either company to begin changing passwords and keeping an eye on their private information. EA has announced that they believe no financial information was stolen.
