Do you have a fear of earthquakes?
Well if you do, you're in luck, as creative engineer Wang Wenxi has created a bed to protect those in danger of an earthquake. The idea behind the bed is quite simple, it folds into a 'strongbox' to help protect whomever may be inside from debris and other dangers occurring during an earthquake. The bed has several key features built in to it, in case of an emergency, like cupboard storage for food as well as other survival gears and gadgets (flashlights, radios, etc).
The design behind the bed has been moved into a patent, and hopefully Wang will see that patent approved. The 66-year old, retired designer lived through both the Xingtai and Tangshan earthquakes, which he claims gave him much needed understanding of the natural disasters this bed protects against.
Wang's goal in the creation of the bed is to save as many lives as possible, especially in China where earthquake death tollsare among the highest. This isn't the first device Wang has patented, the designer has been trying to improve life around him by creating other inventions meant to build safer environments. The earthquake proof bed seems like a globally fantastic invention, as it would not only help people survive such disasters, but also relieve stress and tension from people who live in heavy earthquake areas.
