This isn't an April Fool's Joke. Honest.
It was announced this week that Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival will accept Rockerstar's latest video game, LA Noire, as an official selection. The film festival kicks off April 25th, while LA Noire releases May 17th.
The game was written with beautiful cinematic noire flare, and in typical Rockstar fashion, the game will be massive in both story and scope. As such, the film festival opted to honor the game with the official submission.
Rockstar's Sam Houser had the following to say regarding the announcement,
"We're thrilled that L.A. Noire is being recognized by the Tribeca Film Festival in this way. It's a real honor, and another step forward for interactive entertainment.”
At the film festival, there will be a special 'live gameplay session' with a Q&A afterward with the Tribeca Chief Creative Officer Geoff Gilmore. Gilmore said of the event,
"What Rockstar and Team Bondi have accomplished with L.A. Noire is nothing less than groundbreaking. It's an invention of a new realm of storytelling that is part cinema, part gaming, and a whole new realm of narrative expression, interactivity, and immersion. We are poised on the edge of a new frontier.”
LA Noire has already been making waves in the video game community, and its selection here will only further solidify its hype over the next few weeks. Check out the trailer below for a better look into the gameplay and design.
