Super Nintendo Meets Minecraft

One of the biggest addictions this year, Minecraft, has turned out a slew of impressive and yet slightly absurd level designs.  This is easily the best one yet.

In a game where creation is a tool and your abilities seem limitless, user-generated levels have become all the rage.  But every now and then, a user comes along and creates something that is epic in both size, scale, and awesomeness.  Fans of the classic Super Nintendo will certainly want to check this out.

Some people have passion for games, a passion that rarely leaves.  When Roman DeNu met Minecraft, his passion for the Super Nintendo game The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past found an outlet.  DeNu spent more than 100hrs creating a fully explorable rendition of the entire world from the game.  The map is 512 x 512 x 104, with portals being inserted once Notch allows, which will give DeNu the ability to link dungeons, caves, and building interiors.

While others have spent countless hours mimicking Zelda worlds and locals, nothing compares to the passion DeNu put into this incredible project.

Check the video below to see a 9min demo of DeNu's work.

Minecraft has seen some very beautiful level creations before, including the incredibly detailed Star Trek Enterprise.  Check the video below for that epic scaling.
