This is the week we've all been waiting for.
Today brings about the release of two of the biggest games of the month (possibly the year) with Mortal Kombat and Portal 2.
Fans of the 2007 Game of the Year Portal are sure to be entertained with the new sequel, a game which allows for co-op and has over ten hours worth of platime (the original required maybe three). The sequel's added co-op is one of the biggest selling factors of the game and is sure to please the masses.
Also releasing this week is the newest release in the Mortal Kombat franchise. The game is more of a return to the roots for the series, staying away from the unpopular 3D sequels over the last couple of years and returning to the 2D environment that the game was famous for. This game is purely for the fans of the series and will serve as a very solid return.
Nintendo's Wii gets its own dose of a sequel this week as well with Conduit 2. The original Conduit was a moderate success on the motion-controlled system and the sequel is sure to please fans.
Video Games Releasing This Week
Portal 2
Available on: April 19, 2011.
Portal went from just one part of the Orange Box collection to the 2007 Game of the Year. Imagine what the franchise will do when it has the stage all to itself. Valve delivers another legend-in-waiting by refining and expanding a concept that simultaneously shatters both convention and the laws of physics. Use an experimental portal device to open entrances and exits as you travel through the eerily perfect world of Aperture Laboratories. Battle the sinister AI enemy GLADoS as you face the puzzle-filled challenges of the lab's test chambers. The single-player story features voice acting from The Office's Stephen Merchant while the co-op saga offers a story all its own.
Mortal Kombat

The legendary fighting franchise returns with the kind of super-charged, unfiltered experience you can only get from Mortal Kombat. Start with the deepest Story Mode in any fighting game, where you'll travel back to the original Mortal Kombat tournament to undo a future ruled by Emperor Shao Kahn. Fight one-on-one battles in classic 2D presentation powered by a ruthless new graphics engine that delivers finishing shots in every unflinching detail. Roll into battle with a sidekick in the new Co-Op Arcade Mode, fight four-player tag team battles, or conquer opponents online.

One of the first full-blown first-person shooters for Wii comes back for more in Conduit 2. The battle against invading aliens continues, this time stretching to the furthest reaches of the globe. Use a high-tech arsenal as you pick off sniper targets through walls, defend your position with remote-controlled turrets, and harness incoming fire and blast it back at your enemy. Gameplay has been enhanced with support for MotionPlus controls, Wii Speak compatibility, and new modes including four-player split-screen co-op and maxed out 12-shooter online multiplayer.
