Limited data plans may be a thing of the future, but at least T-Mobile is keeping their customers happy with options rather than none at all.
Rumors have been made as to T-Mobile's plans to start offering a $10 data plan option for those with smartphones. Currently, the large cell phone carriers have been falling over themselves to create the best tiered data plan service available, with AT&T two months ago announcing that their unlimited data plans were history, unless grandfathered in, of course.
It's been rumored that Verizon Wireless will be joining the band wagon of limited data plans (ie, overcharging customers), but the company hasn't released any official information. It appears that T-Mobile will be set to offer their customers a $10 data plan, which allows for up to 200mb per month. While many critics of limited data plans have criticized companies for maneuvers like these, it should be noted that T-Mobile has no plans of getting rid of their unlimited plans in favor of limited ones. Rather, the company would prefer to see the two available as options to their customers, to provide the best fit for how you use your phone.
If the rumors end up being truths, it's a very smart move for the company. T-Mobile has been losing ground since Android began launching on other carriers, and the company currently stands as the fourth carrier in the U.S. Offering these kinds of options to their customers will certainly maximize their business, while also hopefully showing other carriers that there are better alternatives to data plans.
