Ever wondered what your iPad 2 would look like if you were to drop it on concrete?
Wait no more.
The guys over at Squaretrade have lined up three of the hottest tablets on the market for a waist-high drop test. The three tablets subjected to the fall were the iPad 2, Samsung's Galaxy Tab, and the Motorola Xoom. Which one would you wager held up best?
The fear of dropping such expensive devices should reside with all owners, especially those who take their tablets out on a regular basis. Also, these devices were dropped without any sort of case or protective shell, so if anything the video should help to convince you that some form of case is optimal.
The real test here is whether or not your specific tablet requires a warranty. The guys at Squaretrade offer warranties that typical manufacturer's do not offer. Squaretrade's warranty for the iPad, for example, is only $99 and covers an additional two years on the device. Those two years will essentially cover the exact same thing that the Best Buy warranty covers, though $100 cheaper. Best Buy's warranty will also only cover iPads bought at Best Buy, where Squaretrade can be purchased through the App Market and covers any/all devices.
Arguably, the convincing part of the argument here is that Apple doesn't cover drops at all.
