The New Canon Powershots

Powershots Go HD and YouTube Tops the Charts

This week, Canon released three new cameras, Polaroid Portable Printing got bigger, Nikon added 1080p filming, and YouTube topped the charts.  While Canon has certainly been busy releasing new and improved models of our favorite cameras, Nikon continues to deliver us quite a busy digital week.

Canon unveiled three new digital cameras this week, all aiming to impress from the novice to advance camera lover.  If you've been holding off picking up a digital camera until you found just the right one, Canon may have your number this week.  A perfectly priced package for 720p in a handheld, these cameras are great additions to the Canon collection.

Polaroid has been making leaps and bounds in the portable printing department lately, specifically with its PoGo printer.  This week plans for a larger version of the portable printer, the 3x4 model, were announced for a release near Christmas.

Both Nikon and Youtube opened up our eyes this week, with Nikon releasing their new D3100 with 1080p filming and YouTube deciding to add a Top Charts column so we can follow along with what the world thinks of top video submissions.  Both entities into the world of digital are sure to change our lives.  For the better, of course.

Canon has added some much needed new additions to the Powershot linuep.  Landing this week was the S95, an update to the S90 but with 720p capabilities.  The S95, along with the SX130 IS and the SD4500, received a low-light boost with the Canon High Sensitivity addition.  The SX130 IS lands a great price point of only $250, and carries a 12x optical zoom.  The SX130 IS also shoots in 720p.  The SD4500 has a backlit CMOS censor, a 10x optical zoom, and brings about 1080p to its users.  The SD4500 boasts a steeper price point at $350, but is certainly worth every penny.

  Nikon D3100 Release Information

Nikon, a leader in all things digital, announced that their new D3100 will be releasing in September with a price point of just $699.  The new camera sports all sorts of additions, including the ability to film in 1080p movie mode with continuous contrast-detect autofocus.  The specs look great, especially from a filming perspective, but all of that hinges on how fast pans can be handled in terms of the new autofocus capabilities.  Either way, Nikon looks to be hitting it out of the park with the release of the 3100, and its 30fps shooting mode along with the 14.2 megapixel sensor seem to be icing on the cake.

Polaroid PoGo 3x4

Polaroid has released specs on their latest portable printable, the PoGo 3x4, which increases the dimensions and pictures sizes.  The printer can connect to mobile devices, including those using bluetooth or those running the Android OS.  An Android app exists on the Android market place which allows users to print easily to the device any photos stored on their phone.  The new 3x4 doesn't have a price point here in the US, but the current version can be picked up for just $79.99.  It's safe to assume that the bigger version will cost a tad more.

YouTube Top Charts

YouTube has announced a change to its main page formatting, completely centered on the site's newest addition, Top Charts.  The change to the top video viewer is simply to keep an updated listing, akin to Billboard, of what is currently considered the bees knees in terms of YouTube video submissions.  The new addition will allow users to filter, search, and compare the top 900 videos each and every day.  Fans of the online video service will certainly want to check it out.
