This week, iTunes has a little something for all members of the family. Whether you like aggressive crime dramas, CGI-animated kids fare, or plays turned into movies, this week's Tune in Tuesdays should fit nearly every member of the family.
Fans of methodical, intelligent, gritty, crime dramas will certainly be entertained by Michael Caine's latest, Harry Brown. The movie is now available for Purchase, not for Rent. Caine stars as Harry Brown, an older man living in a rundown neighborhood. His friend attempts to stand up to the neighborhood hulligans, only to be killed as a result. Once Harry hears of the news, he steps into action and sets out to shut down the drugs, prostitution, and violence he feels the local police are inept at stopping. The movie runs with a bit of a slow pace, so those expecting Rambo or something similar: be warned.
Releasing on iTunes for Rent or Purchase is the family centered, live adaptation of the popular comic series, Marmaduke. The movie, much like the comic, is about a mischievous dog who is a bit too big for his owners to handle. His size and obstinate behavior lead to trouble, and laughs. The movie tanked pretty hard at the box office, but should be popular with children.
Also releasing for Rent or Purchase is Tyler Perry's latest, Why Did I Get Married, Too?. The movie is Perry's first sequel, and scored fairly well at the box office. Fans of his work will certainly want to watch the latest addition to the story, though prepare for slight disappointment as Madea is no where to be seen in this outing.
This week, the iTunes app section fell a little short in the app department. That might have had something to do with the Netflix app being added late last week. The app release was covered in our App Recap article last week, but we'll cover it here again in case you missed it. The app is a welcome addition to the plethora of apps already out on the market place. The app is amazing for Netflix subscribers, and if you aren't one already, maybe this app will convince you to sign up. For those more interested in games, make sure to check out the two latest for the iPhone and iPad: Slice It and Spider-Man: Total Mayhem.
